KOMPAS.com - A 25-year-old Russian citizen identified as IK was arrested in Bali for allegedly stealing five helmets while he was allegedly drunk on Friday, April 16.
Upon receiving the complaints filed by a US citizen known as Hana Leona, 37, and a German citizen Ronald Jauh, 23, who said that their helmets were stolen, the police rushed to find IK at a villa in Denpasar, Bali. IK then asked for an apology as the person did not intend to steal.
Head of the Mengwi general crimes unit, First Inspector (Iptu) Ketut Wiwin Wirahadi said the incident occurred at one of the villas in Pererenan in Badung regency on Friday, April 16.
The story began when the perpetrator was surfing at Pererenan Beach and consumed an alcoholic beverage. After staying on the beach for a night, IK returned to his villa. On the way home, IK saw helmets on motorcycles then brought them home.

"Once arrived at the villa, IK immediately slept and only the next day the perpetrators realized that there were people's helmets in the villa. IK was planning to return the helmets but was afraid to do so," Wiwin said.
Wiwin explained that IK stole the helmets while allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
"The perpetrator, who was depressed and under the influence of alcohol, stole the helmets after a breakup and living alone in Bali," Wiwin said on Monday, April 20.
The case was dropped after the helmet owners and the perpetrator agreed that the matter was resolved.
The story went viral after CCTV footage was posted on an Instagram account @pererenan_now. It shows that IK took away the helmets from motorbikes in the parking area. The post was quickly reshared across social media platforms.
