KOMPAS.com – An Australian national in Bali has caused a stir among netizens on the resort island and other parts of Indonesia, after he attempted to bank in on its standing as a spiritual and holistic retreat by holding so-called ‘orgasm classes’.
Instead of drawing New Age denizens, the classes attracted the attention of the Bali Province Regional Police and officials from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights [Kemenhukham], who went on to question the expatriate about his plans on Friday.
“The police picked up [the foreigner] at a villa in the mountain town of Ubud in Gianyar regency where he was staying for questioning,” said Kemenhukham official for Bali Jamaruli Manihuruk of the Australian citizen, who was identified as AB.

“He admitted that he planned to hold the class on Saturday, March 6. AB made the announcement about the class, which he billed as ‘Tantric Full Body Energy Orgasm Retreat’, on social media.”
Jamaruli added that AB will charge $500 [Rp. 7.2 million] per person for the class, which will be held at an undisclosed hotel in Ubud.
The police reiterated Jamaruli. “We came to the hotel where the class was supposed to be held, after we saw the announcement [for the event] on social media” said Gianyar Police Department chief Grand Commissioner Attendant I Dewa Made Andyana on Saturday.

“But we saw that the hotel already canceled the event, after AB withdrew booking for the class. We then used the [booking] information to trace AB and question him.”
Made added that AB admitted to his actions. “AB said the [orgasm] classes were part of therapeutic yoga courses for sexuality. He also confirmed that he canceled the classes, after they failed to generate any interest among the public.”
Made said the police let AB go, after they found no evidence of wrongdoing. The case is the second of its kind to attract media attention in Bali, after officials deported a Syrian yogi in June 2020 when yoga sessions violated health protocols by drawing hundreds of foreigners.
