JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Indonesia's Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said that one of the challenges of developing halal industrial zones is how to provide the products and management information systems.
"Once the halal industrial zone is established, the next challenge is how to immediately fill the halal industrial zone with various halal product industries," said Ma'ruf on Wednesday, March 3.
He also underscored the importance of providing a one-stop center for halal products by building an integrated management information system (MIS).

The MIS will be beneficial for keeping the data and trade value of the production of the halal products in the aforementioned industrial zones.
"We need a codification to integrate certified halal products with the trade and economic data. So that the trade data in halal products can be appropriately recorded," he said.
To do so, Ma'ruf said, the process of collecting all data must be done properly, including the raw materials in agricultural and plantation products, animal products, fishery products, marine resources, semi-finished products, and ready-to-use products.

Ma'ruf also said entrepreneurs should know the need to have halal product certification because it is an added value to their products and make Indonesian-made products competitive globally.
One of the halal industrial zones is called SAFE and LOCK Halal Industrial Park (HIP). Established by the Ministry of Industry, the facility is located in Sidoarjo, East Java. Another facility is the Modern Cikande Industrial Estate in Serang, Banten.
