Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah Promises 5.6 Million Jobs for Indonesians

The request to fly in the Chinese workers was made by PT Bintan Alumina Indonesia.

Indonesia's Minister of Manpower underlined that foreign workers are allowed to work in Indonesia and partake in Indonesia's national strategic projects.

Amid the spread of the Covid-19 virus, foreign workers must also abide by health protocols.

The Labor Agency of Bintan Regency in the Riau Island explained that PT Bintan Alumina Indonesia is managing the area’s special economic zone.

Doing so requires employing 500 Chinese workers in Indonesia.

The Chinese workers are tasked to accelerate the project completion of a smelter factory and a thermal power station in order for it to start operating in 2021.

The target is in keeping with that set by Luhut Panjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, during a visit to the new project location in Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi.
