JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah announced that Indonesia’s national strategic projects will create jobs for 5.6 million Indonesian workers in 2021.

There are 223 national strategic projects in the pipeline, of which three are valued at Rp 4.183 trillion.

“Based on the labor market demand for 2019-2020 conducted by friends at Binapenta and the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, there will be 5.6 million workers needed for Indonesia’s national strategic projects,” siad Ida Fauziyah.

There are 15 sectors which are covered by the national projects and two sectors from the program level.

Indonesia’s Minister of Manpower detailed that there is a demand for workers that can be fulfilled through employment information sources or through education and training means.

To support next year’s national strategic projects, the Ministry of Manpower has planned some activities for jobseekers spread throughout 34 provinces.

This strategy is projected to fill in around 95,315 job posts.

Another 5.6 million jobs will be generated through projects of the other ministries, said Ida.

Ida expects that an additional 43,000 workers will be recruited through job expansion from  new entreprises, business opportunity mapping as well as assistance for businesses.

Indonesia's Minister of Manpower expects an additional 6,000 workers will be absorbed in job positions in natural resources-related, labor-intensive work.

Intense scrutiny

The decision to employ and allow the entry of 500 Chinese workers in Indonesia last year has put Ida Fauziyah under more intense scrutiny.
