Slamet asserted that F does not get to walk away freely.
“Aside from facing charges for violating the Electronic and Information Transaction Law, F is also charged for undermining relations [between the Indonesian National Police [Polri] and the Indonesian Navy,” he asserted of F, who was relieved of their duties.
Police in the Indonesian province of North Sumatra and their counterparts from the Indonesian Navy’s Military Police also nabbed a farmer living near the provincial capital Medan for a similar offense.
North Sumatra Regional Police spokesman Police Grand Commissioner Hadi Wahyudi said the suspect, who was identified as Fahmi Aditya, confessed to posting the comment.
“Since I am a farmer who work in the field, I leave my phone at home and only use it in the evenings. Only then did I find notifications, one of which said I was a wanted man.” Fahmi took full responsibility for the post.
F and Fahmi face up to six years in jail if they are found guilty of violating the Electronic and Information Transaction Law.

President Jokowi: Armed Criminal Groups Have No Place in Indonesia
Indonesian President Joko Widodo has affirmed his uncompromising stance against insurgents in Indonesia, after the death of Brigadier General I Gusti Putu Danny Karya Nugraha, the head of Indonesian intelligence [BIN] in Papua on Sunday.
“There is no place for insurgents or Armed Criminal Groups [KKB] in Papua and elsewhere in Indonesia,” said the President, who is also known as Jokowi, in a virtual press statement on YouTube.
The head of state urged Indonesian Military chief Air Force Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto and National Police Chief General Hadi Tjahjanto to hunt down the KKB. He also paid his last respects to the deceased.
“On behalf of the Indonesian people and nation I would like to convey my condolences to the loved ones [Brigadier General I Gusti Putu Danny Karya Nugraha] left behind…The government will posthumously promote him [to the two-star rank of Major General].”
Brigadier General Danny will be buried with military honors at Jakarta’s Kalibata Heroes Cemetery on Tuesday. The insurgents shot and killed him on Puncak Jaya regency’s Beoga district, after they ambushed his convoy as it was headed to the village of Dambet.
Beoga is known to be a hotspot for the insurgency.
Prior to killing Danny, the insurgents killed civilians including two schoolteachers, a high school student, and a motorcycle taxi driver in Beoga earlier this April, after they accused them of being informants to the Indonesian security forces.
The insurgents also burned three schools in the area. The deceased are transmigrants from outside Papua.
