Indonesia’s Former Supreme Court Judge Artidjo Alkostar Passes Away
Former Supreme Court judge Artidjo Alkostar passed away on Sunday, February 28 after suffering from heart and lung diseases. He was 71.
The news of his passing was confirmed by Coordinating Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Minister Mahfud MD, who is also former chief justice of the Constitutional Court.
“A principled person in the field of Law Enforcement has left us. Former Supreme Court judge Artidjo Alkostar who is now a member of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Supervisory Board passed away this afternoon. Inna Lillah Wainna Ilahi raji'un [We belong to God and to God we shall return] Allahumma ighfir lahu [May Allah bless his soul],” said Mahfud MD in his Twitter account @mohmahfudmd on Sunday.
Artidjo was one of the judges who was most feared by corruptors when they filed an appeal at the Supreme Court.
When Artidjo handed down the court’s verdict, instead of getting leniency, the corruptors were rewarded with a harsher verdict.
