Jokowi Receives Second Covid-19 Vaccine Dose

Indonesia’s President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo received his second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine which was broadcast live on the presidential secretariat’s YouTube channel on Tuesday, January 27.

“The vaccination is similar to what was done two weeks ago. It’s not hurt,” Jokowi said at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

The president received his first vaccine dose on January 13.

Jokowi said that when he received his first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, he experienced mild stiffness on the arm where he got the shot two hours later.

However, he added, the side effect did not prevent him from carrying out his daily activities. He expected that similar side effects would reappear after the second shot.

Jokowi also reminded the public to follow the health protocols when the vaccine becomes available to them.

“After we receive the vaccine, we still have to comply with the health protocols,” he said.
It was previously reported that the Covid-19 jab drive aims to vaccinate about 182 million people or 70 percent of the total population after Indonesia authorized China’s Sinovac vaccine for emergency use on January 14, with an efficacy rate of 65.3 percent.
