Local Quarantine Must be Implemented, Jokowi Tells

Indonesia’s President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo urged his officials to implement limited local quarantine in the neighborhood units (RT) and community units (RW) as the number of Covid-19 confirmed cases has reached a million in the country.

Coordinating Human Development and Culture Minister Muhadjir Effendy said that President Jokowi has instructed the relevant ministers to create new strategies and approaches in the fight against Covid-19.

“One of the steps is to implement limited local quarantine in the neighborhood units and community units,” said Muhadjir in a statement on Wednesday, January 27.

Muhadjir said that the quarantine would be carried out to look into the cases in an area and separate the people who have tested positive for Covid-19 from the healthy ones by carrying out self-isolation or collective isolation.

Muhadjir said that the technical aspects of the aforementioned quarantine are still in discussion.
