The healthy and filling Indonesian peanut salad has become a go-to breakfast food for many Jakarta residents who have a busy workday ahead.
Throughout the capital city, food vendors sell the gado gado salad from early in the morning to late in the night, but there are six locations that are particularly popular for serving up the meal.

Kompas.com has selected the six eateries serving up the best gado gado recipe in Jakarta that you can enjoy during the holiday or at any time of the year.
The opening hours of each location vary and are subject to change, and there are delivery services available for some of the listed places so be sure to check them out.
1. Gado Gado Cemara
Situated at Jalan Tanah Abang 5 Nomor 36, Central Jakarta, this eatery has been serving the ultimate gado gado salad since 1947.
The secret to the best gado gado recipe is in the peanut sauce and Cemara does exactly that by using cashews.
Even if you are not in the mood for Indonesian peanut salad, that’s alright because the owners also serve oxtail soup, goat curry, goat fried rice, durian ice cream, and Lontong Cap Go Meh.

What once began in the Boplo Market area, the owners have successfully established 10 branch locations across the Indonesian capital city.

5. Gado Gado Pak Wahyu

Located at Jalan Cilacap in the city’s Menteng district, you can find his food pushcart right across from The Hermitage Hotel.

The name of this local favorite in Jakarta for the best gado gado salad may be a mouthful, but the taste of the classic Indonesian food is incredibly flavorful.
Operating since 1986, this food eatery is located at Jalan Kertanegara Nomor 2, Kebayoran Baru in South Jakarta.
Here, the Indonesian peanut salad is sold from a car for only $1.42 (Rp 20,000) and they operate Monday through Friday from 10am-3pm.
