JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – There are essential year-end holiday restrictions in Jakarta that residents and travelers must know before hosting a celebration to ring in 2021.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has issued new regulations for the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s holiday although the rules will be enforced starting tomorrow and run until January 8, 2021.
The issuance of Jakarta Governor Instruction Number 64 Year 2020 is meant to avoid Covid-19 virus transmission during the Christmas and New Year’s holiday break, according to Anies.

He has also issued special year-end holiday restrictions in Jakarta valid for the December 24-27 and December 31, 2020 – January 3, 2021 periods which we have highlighted below.
1. Limit activities outside the home
Anies Baswedan has asked the city’s residents to reduce or limit the amount of time spent outside the home unless it is for religious purposes, to meet basic needs, or for urgent matters during the specific Christmas and New Year’s period.
Furthermore, businesses across the capital city are required to limit their operational hours and close at the latest 7pm as per the special restrictions in Jakarta.
2. Regulations for public areas
Tourist attractions, shopping centers, dining areas, and movie theaters are all subject to the special year-end holiday restrictions in Jakarta in which they must close by 7pm.
