“There are many benefits of cassava as an agricultural commodity and as the base of manufactured goods that could attract more people into enjoying it.”
Perum Bulog joined hands with the Indonesia Cassava Society and the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology in the development of cassava rice.
This new type of rice is made from 80 percent cassava flour and 20 percent comes from different types of flours which are then molded using extrusion technology.
Indonesia’s cassava rice is said to have the same level of carbohydrates or energy equivalent to rice and thus ensures one’s daily supply of energy will be fulfilled.
More importantly, the new rice form possesses the same texture and flavor as a regular rice grain, hence will be suitable for the palettes of Indonesian consumers.
