JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Indonesia’s President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has strongly condemned the terrorist attack and killing in Sigi, Central Sulawesi, saying the terror aims to destroy the nation’s unity.
Jokowi regarded the attack that killed four people and burned downed seven houses last Friday as inhumane.
The President said that there is no room for terrorists in the country. “This barbaric act is clearly aimed at creating provocation and terror among people who want to destroy the unity and harmony in this nation,” Jokowi said in a televised message from the presidential palace in the capital, Jakarta on Monday, November 30.
The President has instructed National Police Chief General Idham Azis to investigate thoroughly the terrorism down to its roots.

He also instructed both the Police Chief and Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander to be more vigilant.
The President urged all people to calm down and maintain unity while staying alert.
“Once again, there is no room for terrorists in our country,” the President said.
The brutal murder of the residents in Lemban Tongoa village, Palolo sub-district in Sigi regency was revealed after the Palolo Police received the information from the public on November 27.

Upon arriving at the scene, four bodies were found dead and seven houses were burned down by unknown people. The police then conducted a crime scene investigation from 6pm-11pm.
Five witnesses said the suspected perpetrators were at least 10 people, three of them carried firearms.
