KOMPAS.com – Two monkey forests in Bali have reopened in time for the year-end holiday when travelers are expected to boost Indonesia’s tourism sector.

The Sangeh Monkey Forest and Monkey Forest Ubud have only recently welcomed tourists into their respective locations, and both operators have voiced their compliance to health protocols.

“There are special health protocols in place at these tourist destinations. One of it is to maintain a distance with the monkeys, and visitors are provided with a guideline on how to do so,” shared Putu Astawa as Head of the Bali Tourism Agency.

The standard Covid-19 health protocols also apply including mandatory face masks, social distancing, and regularly disinfecting one’s hands.

Before you enter the monkey forests in Bali, you will have to pass mandatory body temperature checks.

Should visitors be found to have a temperature higher than 37.3 degrees Celsius then they will be escorted to the nearest hospital or community health center, Putu said.

The Bali tourist attraction, Sangeh Monkey Forest, reopened in the new normal era on October 31 while the famous Monkey Forest Ubud has been back in business since November 5.

Sangeh Monkey Forest is located at Jalan Brahmana, Badung Regency and they are open every day from 8am–4pm.
