JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Indonesian parliament's Commission XI has approved the nomination of Doni P. Joewono as central bank Deputy Governor, replacing his predecessor Erwin Rianto whose term of office ended in June.
“The house speakers would like to express our sincere congratulations to the elected deputy governor of Bank Indonesia from 2020 to 2025,” House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco said during the plenary meeting on Thursday, July 16.
An "internal meeting" was held before the commission arrived at the decision to approve Doni's nomination during deliberations on July 13 at 14:00 pm, according to Commission XI Dito Ganinduto. The commission oversees financial affairs, national development planning, and banking as well as non-bank financial institutions.
All factions agreed on Doni’s nomination as Bank Indonesia Deputy Governor.
“We hope that the plenary meeting can approve the results of the internal meeting on the nomination of deputy governor for the period of 2020-2025,” he said.
Previously, Doni and two other candidates, Yaki Juda Agung and Aida Budiman, went through a series of interviews during the fit and proper test by the commission on two consecutive days July 7-8.
During his presentation, Doni brought up a topic on Strengthening the Role of Bank Indonesia toward an Advanced and a Sustainable Indonesia. He explained his vision and mission is to realize a high-growth, sustainable, and inclusive Indonesian economy by establishing and implementing effective, synergistic, and consistent policies toward the developed country.
