LOS ANGELES, KOMPAS.com — Will and Jada Smith took to Facebook’s ‘Red Table Talk’ and revealed past marriage troubles including infidelity.
Jada Pinkett Smith admitted to having a relationship with musician August Alsina when she and Will Smith were separated.
The power couple has since reaffirmed their commitment to each other on the show.
During the ‘Red Table Talk’ episode, Jada shared her reluctance to discuss Alsina’s reported comments due to the public speculation they caused.
Jada Smith revealed that at one point, her marriage to the Hollywood actor was over which led to a “different kind of entanglement” between her and the musician.
Alsina first met the couple when they tried to help the musician with his health issues four years ago, hence sparking a friendship.
“An entanglement? A relationship,” Smith said, prodding his wife to be more specific, alluding to the Facebook Watch show's dedication to the candid discussion.
Jada Smith’s use of the word ‘entanglement’ has generated buzz since the ‘Red Table Talk’ episode premiered.
“Yes, it was a relationship. Absolutely. I was in a lot of pain. I was very broken,” she replied. "Now, in the process of that relationship, I definitely realize that you can’t find happiness outside of yourself. ... I would definitely say we did everything that we could to get away from each other, only to realize that that wasn’t possible.”
At one point in the conversation, they echoed each other, saying: “We ride together. We die together. Bad marriage for life," an allusion to a catchphrase in Smith's “Bad Boys” franchise.
