KOMPAS.com – Indonesia’s ride-hailing giant Gojek has upgraded its mobile app to a regional super app in Southeast Asia.
Gojek operates in four Southeast Asian countries - Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Thailand. In the latter two countries, the ride-hailing giant used the names of GoViet and GET in Thailand.
To improve its competitiveness in Southeast Asia, Gojek integrated the apps in the four countries to become a regional super app, all under the name Gojek.

The name change will go into effect on August 2020 in Vietnam and Thailand.
“The integration of the Gojek app in these four countries is in line with our mission to bring convenience to our users’ daily life including during one of the most difficult periods in today’s history,” said Gojek Co-CEO Andre Soelistyo on July 3.
The Indonesian ride-hailing giant’s latest move is part of its business strategy to deliver the best experience to everyone in its platform today and in the future.

Andre stipulated that the integration of becoming a super app demonstrates Gojek’s customer-focused corporate commitment.
By becoming a regional super app, users in all four countries will only need to download one Gojek app.
As such, when a Gojek Indonesia user travels to Singapore, Vietnam, and Thailand, they won’t need to download a different app.
“We are always innovating to help fulfill our users’ needs and develop a sustainable ecosystem in every aspect of Gojek’s operations,” said Andre.
Gojek Co-CEO Kevin Aluwi believes that the step towards becoming a regional super app will change user experience in the four countries.
