10,000 People Get Vaccinated in Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex
The mass vaccination program in Jakarta was well-received as 10,000 people showed up to get the Covid-19 vaccine at the Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex on Saturday, June 26.
The Jakarta Health Agency said that nearly 10,000 residents participated in the Covid-19 jab drive.
"It is estimated that from 9,800 to 10,000 people get vaccinated today," said the Jakarta Health Agency's head of disease control and prevention division, Dwi Oktavia, Saturday, June 26.
Dwi said that the vaccination program was co-organized by the Jakarta Administration, the Indonesian military, and the police.
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, who was accompanied by Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, visited the vaccination center there to get a closer look at how the program was held.
According to the Antara news agency, hundreds of residents were lining up to get the Covid-19 vaccine starting from 8.30 am.
Jakarta has set a target to inoculate a total of 8,800,000 residents.
