Many Indonesians Remain Satisfied with Government Performance: Poll

Many Indonesians remain satisfied with the government performance under the leadership of President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin since October 2019, said a poll on Monday, May 3.

A survey conducted by the Kompas research and development team in April found that the level of public satisfaction with government performance stood at 69.1 percent or up 2.8 percent from 66.3 percent in January 2021.

The poll also showed that 30.9 percent of respondents expressed dissatisfaction.

The survey, which was done from April 13-26 involving 1,200 respondents in all 34 provinces in Indonesia, aims to examine public satisfaction with the government since President Joko Widodo and Ma’ruf Amin took office in October 2019.

“The level of public satisfaction, in general, stood at 69.1 percent during the last survey in April. It also means that the result is not much different compared to the previous survey in January, amounting to 66.3 percent,” said Yohan Wahyu, a pollster at Kompas Research and Development team on Monday, May 3.

The survey evaluated how the people were satisfied with the government in the aspects of politics and security, law enforcement, economy, and social welfare.

The first survey in August 2020 showed that the level of public satisfaction at that time was at 65.9 percent.
