“My trip to the capital city of Ukraine and my meeting with President Zelenskyy were solely to carry out a mission of peace,” Jokowi wrote on his Instagram account.
He previously said that the war should have stopped. Efforts to stop the war would reopen the food supply chain that had been hampered.
His trip was held after attending the G7 Summit in Schloss Elmau, Germany as a guest. He then took an 11-hour train journey from Przemysl in Poland to Kyiv.
Shortly after arriving at Platform 1 of Kyiv Central Station at about 8:50 a.m. local time, Jokowi and First Lady visited the rubble of an apartment complex in Irpin near Kyiv.
After visiting Ukraine, Jokowi returned to the Polish city of Przemysl by the same train before flying to Moscow to meet his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
