JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Car Free Day (CFD) in Jakarta will be back on Sunday, May 22 with a shorter duration from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and no vendors will be allowed to run a business on roads.
The Jakarta Administration first suspended the weekly program in March 2020 to curb the spread of Covid-19. Two months later, the activities resumed. But, it was being put on hold again due to a huge crowd that could be the source of Covid-19 transmission.
As the number of Covid cases continues to decline, the local administration has decided to allow the public to carry out outdoor activities during the CFD with a limiting condition.
“We ensure that street vendors are prohibited from operating in the areas where CFD will take place,” Jakarta Transportation Agency head Syafrin Liputo said in a statement on Friday, May 20.
