JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – AirAsia Thailand resumed international flights to the Indonesian island of Bali from Bangkok on Tuesday, April 12.
The company’s website said that the airline would operate its flights to Bali twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The flights will also be evaluated continuously for additional frequencies in the future.
Historically, Bangkok and Bali have been popular destinations with an average demand of over 80 percent in tourism volume before the Covid-19 pandemic.
The inaugural post-pandemic flight shows that the trend of Thai tourists visiting Bali has slowly recovered. As many as 128 passengers -- almost all of whom are foreigners and Thai nationals -- were on board the flight.
It is hoped that the interest in visiting Bali among the Thai tourists will be a momentum for increasing inbound arrivals from Thailand to Indonesia, especially Bali.
AirAsia Thailand said guests traveling from Thailand to various countries with flights operated by AirAsia could travel without quarantine restrictions according to the travel requirements of each country.
“As international travel and quarantine restrictions have been eased recently, Thai tourists are interested to return to Bali which is known for its unique culture and marine tourism activities,” the website stated.
Thailand has scrapped pre-departure Covid tests before entering the country to support its tourism recovery.
The airline called on the future passengers to follow the health protocols to create a safe and comfortable journey.
