JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Former Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) will travel to the United States for medical treatment in a Minneapolis hospital, an official said on Tuesday, November 2.
A senior member of the Democratic Party Syarief Hasan said that the Party patron SBY would receive medical care for prostate cancer in a hospital for cancer care in Minneapolis.
“He is scheduled to leave [Indonesia] today to undergo health checks and to receive medical care in the U.S,” said Syarief at the Parliament building in Jakarta.

SBY will be accompanied by his children and other family members during the treatment.
SBY is expected to undergo a long period of treatment as he will be under thorough supervision from doctors. “He will undergo a series of health checks and medical treatment for about 1.5 months,” said Syarief.
Despite SBY having been diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer, he can carry out physical activities, including painting, supervising his volleyball team, and leading the Democratic Party cadres.

“He has a very busy schedule but his health is well maintained.”
It was reported that SBY had been diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer following several health checks by a team of doctors. “Based on the doctors, SBY has been diagnosed with prostate cancer which is still in the early stage,” said Ossy Dermawan, an aide to SBY, in a statement on Tuesday.
