“We have vaccinated an average of 716 thousand people on a daily basis. We are targeting one million vaccinations against Covid-19 to reach herd immunity against the pandemic.”
President Jokowi added that Indonesia has procured 104,728,400 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine from Sinovac, AstraZeneca, and Sinopharm. “The number of vaccines are part of the nearly 427 million doses that we secured from bilateral and multilateral diplomacy.”

However, he reminded the country that the best defense against Covid-19 is still compliance with health protocols, such as wearing masks, washing hands, and maintaining social distancing.
The Task Force confirmed that Covid-19 has been detected in 510 regencies and cities throughout Indonesia’s 34 provinces, or 99 percent of Indonesian territory.
The current surge in Covid-19 numbers is attributed to millions of people heading back to their hometowns during the Eid al-Fitr or Idul Fitri Islamic holidays last May, in defiance of a government ban on the annual practice.
