TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com – The immigration office at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang near Jakarta is looking into the case of two British nationals who allegedly violated the health quarantine rules.
Previously, the Indonesian police have arrested ODE, 39, and MM, 32, in Bogor, West Java on Wednesday, May 19 after the two allegedly escaped the health quarantine facility on May 7.
“We are looking into the case of the two British nationals,” the Immigration Office head at Soekarno-Hatta Airport Rommy Yudianto said on Monday, May 24.
Rommy said that his office had summoned the British Embassy in Jakarta to assist in the examination.
However, Rommy added, the British Embassy here had yet fulfilled the summons.
“The [representative] at embassy wanted to come, but no one has arrived yet,” he said.
Rommy said that the immigration officers have also examined whether ODE and MM had committed other violations, besides escaping from the health quarantine process.
“We are still gathering the information whether they have also violated other rules,” he said.

Rommy said the two foreigners face being deported from Indonesia for failing to comply with the regulations in Indonesia.
“The deportation will take place as soon as possible. After the police hand over the case, we will proceed with the deportation,” he said.
The two British nationals were allowed to enter Indonesia as they were the holders of visit visas.
The costs of deportation will be borne by the guarantor, Rommy said.
“While waiting for the process of deportation, the two British nationals are currently in the Immigration detention room,” he said.
