SAMBAS, KOMPAS.com - Indonesia's Border Security Task Force has seized two cardboard boxes containing 40 packages of crystal methamphetamine while patrolling along mouse trails in Sambas regency, West Kalimantan near Indonesia-Malaysia border.

The total weight of all packages reached about of 42.9 kilograms.

"The crystal meth was found by the personnel at Gabma Sajingan Post while patrolling in the border inspection route," said head of the Indonesia-Malaysia Border Security Task Force of the Infantry Battalion 642 Kapuas, Lieutenant Colonel Alim Mustofa, on Tuesday, March 9.

Alim said that the border patrol began on Sunday noon.

At that time, personnel from Gabma Sajingan Post, led by Lieutenant Agus Sala, found two cardboard boxes containing suspicious packages believed to be crystal meth. 

"The drugs were wrapped in tea packets," said Alim.

He said the patrol activities were intensified following the instruction given by the regional military command commander.

"Soldiers have received instruction to step up border patrols along the road in Indonesia-Malaysia border," said Alim, adding that the surveillance activity was done after receiving intelligence information from the Task Force members and other relevant agencies.
