Travel Restrictions during Long Weekend Holidays for Indonesian Civil Servants Could be Extended

Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Tjahjo Kumolo.KOMPAS.com/ HARYANTI PUSPA SARI Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Tjahjo Kumolo.

Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Ministry’s undersecretary for institutions and governance, Rini Widyantini, said a new policy of restricting civil servants from taking leave and traveling out of town during long weekend holidays could be extended.

The policy could be applied if the number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia remains high during the long weekend holiday.

“The Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform will follow the Covid-19 National Task Force. The policy is likely to be continued and could be done during the long weekend holiday,” she said during a virtual press conference on Thursday, February 11.

“However, it would depend on the number of the Covid-19 cases,” she added.
The suspension on travel activity was issued by the government following the increasing number of the Covid-19 confirmed cases that occur during the 2020 year-end holidays.

However, the ministry will be based on the policies issued by the Covid-19 National Task Force in Indonesia.

Previously, Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Tjahjo Kumolo issued circular No. 4/2021 on travel restrictions for civil servants during the Lunar New Year holiday from February 11-14.
