KOMPAS.com – As part of Indonesia’s efforts to improve its tourism sector that has been heavily hit by a coronavirus, the Ministry of Manpower has signed memoranda of understanding with several institutions to train workers in the tourism sector.

The ministry has set the target of producing half a million skilled workers in the tourism sector. After the training, it is expected that they will be working in various tourism industries in the super-priority tourism destinations.

Meanwhile, sad news came from the consumer goods industry, Indofood. The creator of many flavors of Indonesia's famous Indomie instant noodle, Nunuk Nuraini, passed away at the age of 59 on Wednesday, January 27 at 14.55 pm.

Manpower Ministry to Train Half Million Workers in Tourism Sector

Indonesia’s Manpower Ministry has set the target of producing 500,000 skilled workers in the tourism sector throughout 2021 in a bid to support the country’s super-priority tourism destinations.

Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah said the tourism sector needs both formal and informal workers.

Besides, Ida said, two other sectors – culinary and handicrafts – are currently also considered potential.

“This year the Ministry of Manpower has the target to train 500,000 workers in the tourism sector to support the five super-priority tourist destinations such in Lake Toba, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, Borobudur, and Likupang,” said Ida in a telecast address on Thursday, January 28.

To do so, the ministry has signed memoranda of understanding with several training institutions as part of the efforts to boost the tourism sector and to improve skills as well as expand job opportunities.

The creator of many flavors of Indonesias famous Indomie instant noodle, Nunuk Nuraini, passed away on Wednesday, January 27 at 14.55 pm. The creator of many flavors of Indonesia's famous Indomie instant noodle, Nunuk Nuraini, passed away on Wednesday, January 27 at 14.55 pm. She was 59.

The news of her death was first announced on the @lailadimyati Twitter handle. Nunuk is called by netizens as "my hero" because of her legendary fried noodle flavor.

Later, Indofood's Head of Public Relations, Nurlita Novi Arlaida, confirmed the news of Nunuk's death.

"Nunuk Nuraini died today [Wednesday] and her soul returned peacefully to God," Novi told Kompas.com on Wednesday.

This heartsick news not only makes family and relatives sad but also thousands of instant noodle fans. In the first upload of Nunuk's death, Twitter users flooded the comments with condolence messages.

Nunuk Nuraini was rarely exposed. The public began to recognize her a few years ago during the launch of a new variant of Indomie. Generous with her time and talents, Nunuk served for almost 30 years as the flavor development manager for Indofood, the company that produces Indomie.

Bali has overtaken London in the rankings of the world’s best tourist destinations in 2021 out of a list of 25.

Among the factors that make the island the world’s best include its pristine white-sand beaches, a lush forest that are home to temples, and wild monkeys. It’s also got a wreck of a Second World War ship which attracts divers who want to enjoy the beautiful coral reefs in Bali.

Besides Kelingking Beach, other tourist attractions worth a visit include Sekumpul Waterfall and Mount Batur.

Each year TripAdvisor compiles all the reviews and ratings of various destinations submitted by travelers around the world.
