JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Residents who are planning a gathering during this year-end holiday in Jakarta may end up facing several penalties.
The Jakarta Provincial Government today announced that all gatherings of more than five people will not be permitted under the regulation that comes into effect from December 18, 2020 and January 8, 2021.
The temporary rule is regulated under Jakarta Governor Instruction Number 64 Year 2020 in which Anies Baswedan has instructed the municipal police to assist in its enforcement.

The municipal police have been given the duty to enforce health protocols and prevent a crowd of more than five people during the year-end holiday in Jakarta.
The Jakarta Governor Instruction specifically reads: “To mandate health protocols in public areas and other locations that could attract the formation of crowds by limiting all activities to a maximum of five people during the Christmas 2020 and New Year’s 2021 holidays.”
The implementation of Covid-19 health protocols is not new to residents of Indonesia’s capital city as it is regulated under the Jakarta Governor Decree Number 41 Year 2020 under Section 11, Article 1.
