KOMPAS.com – Japan's ramen has found a cult following in the Indonesian capital and there are several restaurants that have become local favorites in Jakarta for the dish.

We’ve selected seven restaurants that offer the best ramen in Jakarta and it is worth noting that some of the restaurants on our list strictly sell these popular Japanese noodles using pork.

1. Fuku Ichi

Despite having a highly affordable menu, Fuku Ichi serves up a delicious bowl of the best ramen in Jakarta that won’t leave a hole in your wallet.

Moreover, this Jakarta city food eatery offers other Japanese dishes including tamago, nori, and bonito flakes for visitors to try.

The price of each dish is under $3.42 (Rp 50,000) per person thus you’ll get a lot for your buck.

Fuku Ichi is located at Jalan Ganggeng Raya Nomor 2A, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, and is open from 10am–10pm.

2. Hiroyuki Ramen

Residents of the western part of the Indonesian capital city will be glad to know that there is a place to satisfy their craving for the best ramen in Jakarta city.

Non-halal foodies can order a pork version of the dish, however, other meat varieties such as chicken are also on the menu.

Should you be interested in exploring the flavors of Japan, then you can order yakisoba or gyoza as part of your meal.

The prices of their noodles range from $2.05 (Rp 30,000) to $2.73 (Rp 40,000). Hiroyuki Ramen is located at Jalan Tanjung Duren Barat I Nomor 11.

Seirock-ya has become one of the local favorites in Jakarta when it comes to indulging in a top-notch bowl of ramen in the city.

Everything on the menu is halal from its broth to its topping while the prices are budget-friendly ranging from $3.42 (Rp 50,000) to $5.47 (Rp 80,000).

To slurp your way to this restaurant, you can visit one of their six branches including locations at Plaza Indonesia, 5th floor, and Taman Anggrek Mall, 2nd floor.

4. Hakata Ikkousha

Hakata Ikkousha is arguably home to the best ramen in Jakarta city and it has become a staple restaurant for the dish because of the authentic flavors as those served in Fukouka, Japan.

There are several restaurant branches across the Indonesian capital city and while Hakata Ikkousha uses a blend of pork and chicken in its broth, some of its locations offer the halal version only.

For the halal Japanese Noodle dish, you can visit Senayan City Mall or Kemang Arcade. The non-halal version is served at the Bukit Golf Mediterania or the northern part of town.

The prices for their amazing range of menu are around $3.42 (Rp 50,000) to $6.83 (Rp 100,000).

5. Bariuma Ramen

As one of the top local favorites, this restaurant originated from Japan where it was first established in Hiroshima in 2003.

Similar to Hakata Ikkousha, the restaurant uses a combination of chicken and pork for its mouthwatering broth which you can truly taste all the goodness in its star dish, Ajitama Uma.

The price range at this restaurant is between $4.10 (Rp 60,000) and $6.15 (Rp 90,000) and you can visit any of their four locations at Setiabudi One, Citywalk Sudirman, Central Park Mall, and Lippomall Puri between 10am–10pm.

6. Menya Sakura

Having made it onto our list of local favorites in Jakarta for the best ramen in Jakarta, Menya Sakura earned its reputation with its truly authentic Japanese noodle dish straight out of Nagoya, Japan.

The noodles sold at this restaurant are non-halal and range from $4.10 (Rp 60,000) until $6.83 (Rp 100,000).

There are five restaurant locations in the city including Lotte Shopping Avenue, Mall Kota Kasablanka, World Trade Center 2, Gandaria City, ad Emporium Pluit Mall.

7. Yoiko Ramen

This restaurant is the go-to spot for the best ramen in Jakarta city or at least for residents in the southern end of town.

Considered as the local favorites among the locals and expats, the restaurant not only offers Japan’s noodle dish but a selection of other popular classics such as okonomiyaki and yakisoba.

They offer non-halal versions of the noodle starting from $3.42 (Rp 50,000) and also serve alcohol.

You can find the restaurant at Jalan Mahakam Nomor 11 across from the Gran Mahakam Hotel or visit their branch at Jalan Pangeran Antasari Nomor 2.
