December 2, 2020, 10.32 PM

KOMPAS.com – There are three best diving spots in Bali that have won over numerous water sports enthusiasts for their beauty and thrill.

As the top tourist destination in Indonesia, the Island of Gods is well-loved among travelers for several reasons such as its landscapes, culture, people, and food.

What makes this island getaway so distinct is its innate ability to cater to just about every type of traveler.

If you’re looking for diving locations in Indonesia for your upcoming vacation, then you’ll want to consider Lovina Beach, Amed Beach, and Tulamben Beach in Bali.

At each Bali diving spot, you’ll get the chance to enjoy panoramic views of the ocean while, all the more important, go jet skiing or surging.

I Nyoman Nuarta, Chairman of the Indonesian Tour Guide Association, added that at Lovina Beach, tourists may encounter wild dolphins.

Kompas.com explains below what makes each beach an ideal spot for divers and water sports lovers.

1. Lovina Beach, Buleleng Regency

This Bali diving spot is 92.5 kilometers by car from the I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, thus it would take you 2 hours and 14 minutes to reach the site.

Unlike other beaches in Indonesia frequented by tourists, Lovina Beach is renowned for its dolphin inhabitants and a marvelous view of its natural landscape.

This Bali tourist attraction is also known as a black sand beach in Indonesia and the locals have also worked hard on the upkeep of the ecosystem of their ocean.

To get the best view of its thriving marine life, tourists should opt for snorkeling or diving activities at this beach because lounging by the shoreline is simply not enough.

The underwater ecosystem is so well preserved that you can swim among colorful fish or play hide-and-seek as it hides behind magnificent coral reefs.

What you’ll ultimately want to tick off your vacation to-do list is be one of the lucky tourists to encounter dolphins or a pod of dolphins swimming along the ocean.

Don’t feel discouraged if you may have missed it because at this Bali diving spot, there is a dolphin show which starts at 6am every day and all you have to do is get up early and wait patiently on the boat.

2. Amed Beach, Karangasem Regency

Similar to the other diving spots in Bali on our list, Amed Beach can be reached 2 hours and 11 minutes by car from the island’s main airport.

The advantage of being listed as one of the diving locations in Indonesia is that the ecosystem and landscape of the site and its surroundings are pretty well-maintained.

Amed Beach is a Bali diving spot you don’t want to miss if you’re looking for a location that is less crowded compared to the standard southern Bali beaches.

Choosing a less crowded destination to satisfy your urge to get out there and do some water sports will leave you more relaxed as you won’t have to worry about brushing shoulders with other divers, snorkelers, or surfers.

Bali’s Amed Beach is home to stunning coral reefs which are also a safe place for a plethora of small fish and other underwater creatures.

Divers can swim approximately 20 meters from the shoreline to see remnants of a sunken Japanese patrol ship that went under during World War II.

Thus Amed Beach is the spot to go for tourists in search of a quieter, but equally magnificent Bali diving spot.

3. Tulamben Beach, Karangasem Regency

Tulamben Beach is one of two closely-located diving spots in Bali specifically from Amed Beach, thus to reach this location takes 2 hours and 15 minutes by car from the airport.

To reach another one of the diving locations in Indonesia from Amed Beach, you’ll only need to go on a 23-minute car ride as it is 14.8 kilometers apart.

This popular Bali diving spot is a crowd favorite and its one-of-a-kind landscape adds to its charm.

Unlike the sandy beaches in Indonesia, Tulamben Beach has black pebble stones for its terrain.

Its pristine water surrounded by luscious greenery in the background and the mountain view is truly a sight not to be missed.

Like many diving spots in Bali, divers can rest assured that the underwater ecosystem at Tulamben Beach is taken care of thus enabling an equally breathtaking diving experience as in the other two beaches on our list.

What fascinates divers of the Bali diving spot the most is the USAT Liberty shipwreck from 1942 which is clearly visible as head underwater.

If you are traveling to one of the best diving spots in Bali or any other diving locations in Indonesia during the pandemic, be sure that you adhere to existing health protocols enforced in the country.

Tourists are subject to frequent handwashing, wearing face masks, social distancing, and will be required to stay at their accommodation should they have a body temperature above 37.3 degrees Celsius.
