Boeing’s aircraft was forcibly grounded in March 2019 after two deadly accidents in Indonesia and Ethiopia which claimed the lives of 346 people in the span of five months.

On October 29, 2018, a Lion Air flight JT-610 with a route for Jakarta-Pangkal Pinang nosedived in the waters of Karawang.

A total of 189 people — 179 adults, one child, two infants, two pilots, and five crew members were found dead.
