JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia plans to launch three new domestic routes this week as part of the company’s strategic steps in expanding the domestic aviation market, a top official said on Thursday.
The carrier will commence operations on new routes between Surabaya-Labuan Bajo, Surabaya-Medan via Batam, and Solo-Denpasar.
Garuda Indonesia president director Irfan Setiaputra said on November 5, “The launch of these three new routes also represents Garuda Indonesia’s commitment to supporting national economic recovery by promoting local tourism and providing direct flights between cities to the leading tourist destinations with safe and comfortable air transportation services.”

The direct flights from and to Surabaya-Labuan Bajo will start to operate on November 6, two times a week on every Monday and Friday with Bombardier CRJ-1000 Next Generation aircraft.
He further added that the Solo to Denpasar route will also commence operation on November 6, twice a week every Friday and Sunday with a fleet of Boeing B737-800 NG aircraft.

Meanwhile, from Surabaya to Medan via the Batam route will start on November 7, twice a week every Thursday and Saturday with a fleet of Boeing B737-800 NG aircraft.
“With the opening of the three new routes, it is hoped that it provides convenience and more choices for passengers who will travel to leading tourism destinations from some major cities in Indonesia,” said Irfan.
