Jakarta Defers Plan to Put A Mask on National Hero Sudirman’s Statue

“I agree with the Jakarta Provincial Administration’s aim of persuading the public to wear masks by putting one on the [Sudirman] statue.”
“But I am worried that the public will see the gesture as a joke," Yesica added. "It is not right for a hero like Sudirman to be reduced to a figure of fun.”
Jakarta has 31,162 Covid-19 cases as of Wednesday evening. The pandemic has killed 1,046 people, while 21,069 others have recovered.
