JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Indonesia announced 1,385 new cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, July 1, bringing the total to 57,770, the government said during a press conference held in Graha BNPB Jakarta.
Covid-19 National Task Force spokesperson Achmad Yurianto said 25,595 people had recovered, up 789 from a day before. Meanwhile, 58 Covid-19 deaths were reported, bringing the total deaths to 2,934. The cases are spread in 34 provinces and 451 regencies and cities across Indonesia.
Yurianto said the cases included 45,192 people under monitoring (ODP) and 13,296 patients under surveillance (PDP). The number of cases continues to develop every day, he said.
Here are the top five provinces with the highest number of Covid-19 infections in Indonesia as of July 1:
1. East Java
East Java has outnumbered Jakarta.
Total cases: 12,321 (185 new cases recorded on July 1)
Total recovered: 4,199 (187 recorded on July 1)
Total deaths: 926 (33 recorded on July 1)

2. Jakarta
Total cases: 11,637 (217 new cases recorded on July 1)
Total recovered: 6,680 (168 recorded on July 1)
Total deaths: 158
3. South Sulawesi
Total cases: 5,214 (130 new cases recorded on July 1)
Total recovered: 1,891 (52 recorded on July 1)
Total deaths: 168
4. Central Java
Total cases: 4,006 (173 new cases recorded on July 1)
Total recovered: 1,259 (100 recorded on July 1)
Total deaths: 160 (10 recorded on July 1)
5. West Java
Total cases: 3,276 (54 new cases recorded on July 1)
Total recovered: 1,622 (15 recorded on July 1)
Total deaths: 177 (1 recorded on July 1)
Here are the top five provinces with the least number of Covid-19 infections in Indonesia as of July 1:
1. Aceh
Total cases: 86 (6 new cases recorded on July 1)
Total recovered: 31 (5 recorded on July 1)
Total deaths: 3

Total cases: 129 (4 new cases recorded on July 1)
Total recovered: 90 (1 recorded on July 1)
Total deaths: 12
