The World Health Organization (WHO) is expecting for a vaccine to be ready within one to two years.
To make the potential Coronavirus vaccine affordable and accessible for everyone, the WHO launched its ‘Solidarity Call to Action’.
Indonesia has endorsed the initiative which will make the Coronavirus vaccine public health goods.
Genexine and Kalbe Farma partnership
Pharmaceutical company Kalbe Farma recently signed a memorandum of understanding with South Korean company Genexine in the development of a Coronavirus vaccine.
The project is codenamed GX-19 and has been tested for its efficiency and safety.
“The joint effort to develop the Coronavirus vaccine is part of Kalbe Farma’s efforts to aid the pandemic in Indonesia,” said Kalbe Farma Director Sie Djohan.
Clinical tests of GX-19 on humans is expected to start in June 2020 after the previous testing on primates showed promising results.
Primates injected with the experimental Coronavirus vaccine developed antibodies that could neutralize the novel virus.
The first phase of testing will be conducted on a small group of people and upon success, testing will be rolled out to thousands of people. (Writer: Mutia Fauzia | Editor: Yoga Sukmana)https://t.me/kompascomupdate, kemudian join. Anda harus install aplikasi Telegram terlebih dulu di ponsel.
