JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Indonesia’s President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Monday inaugurated Golkar Party politician Dito Ariotedjo as the new Minister of Youth and Sports, replacing Zainudin Amali.
The inauguration of the 32-year-old minister – the youngest in the cabinet – was based on Presidential Decree No. 26/P/2023 on the inauguration of the Youth and Sports Minister of the Onward Indonesia Cabinet from 2019–2024 signed on April 3.
Besides Dito, the President also swore in Commissioner General Rycko Amelza Dahniel as the new head of the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT).
During the ceremony, Dito and Rycko took their oaths led by the President.
“I swear by Almighty God to be loyal to the 1945 Constitution of Indonesia and will carry out all laws and regulations as strictly as possible, as I bear true allegiance to the nation and the country. I will uphold work ethics, do my utmost best, and embrace the greatest sense of responsibility when carrying out duties,” the officials said at the State Palace in Jakarta.
Dito also serves as one of Senior Minister Airlangga Hartato’s top aides. He was the chairperson of the Central Executive Board of the Golkar youth wing Indonesian Reform Youth Force (AMPI) from 2016-2021.
He is the son of former president director of state miner Antam, Arie Prabowo Ariotedjo.
Dito replaced Zainudin, who tendered his resignation on March 9 after being elected as the deputy chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI). Earlier, Jokowi had designated Coordinating Minister of Human Development and Cultural Affairs Muhadjir Effendy as acting youth and sports minister.
