KOMPAS.com – Indonesia officially held World Tourism Day with "Rethinking Tourism" theme in Nusa Dua, Bali, Tuesday (27/9/2022). Indonesia has been chosen as the host of the event based on the 24th General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in Madrid, Spain.
In the event, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno explained that the celebration of World Tourism Day 2022 is the right time to push forward the tourism development with collaboration and partnerships between stakeholders.
"With 'Rethinking Tourism' as a theme, this event is the perfect place to unite various thoughts and ideas to find a smart solution to restore national tourism," said Sandi in a press release received by Kompas.com, Tuesday (27/9/2022).
Furthermore, Sandi explained that World Tourism Day has witnessed the urgency of collaboration to achieve a common goal. In addition, this celebration is expected to have a positive impact on the tourism industry actors and the communities within.
"Throughout the celebration of World Tourism Day, let's continue the development of the tourism industry by adjusting policies to face the challenges in front of us. Let's build a comprehensive socioeconomic condition of the community with the aim of improving people's living standards, economic revival and job creation. Our target is to create 1.1 million jobs in 2022 and 4.4 million jobs by 2024," added Sandi.
The celebration of World Tourism Day 2022 is also supported by the pioneer online travel agent (OTA) in Indonesia, tiket.com. As a partner of the government in developing the tourism industry, tiket.com organizes a series of activities on a national and international scale.
These activities involve tourism stakeholders so it can become a solution for the tourism industry during the pandemic.

At the regional level, tiket.com holds a Multi Stakeholder Forum, which is an educational workshop in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to educate tourism actors, business owners in the city of Samarinda, East Kalimantan, and its surroundings.
These activities aim to empower the skills in optimizing tourism businesses by utilizing digital marketing.
It is important to note that Samarinda is the fifth city to host the Multi Stakeholder Forum. Previously, tiket.com has held similar events in Belitung (Bangka Belitung Islands), Banyuwangi (East Java), Tanjung Bira (South Sulawesi), and Bogor (West Java).
