“Best wishes and thanks to my good friend @BorisJohnson,” he wrote.

The 47-year-old Truss has won the Conservative Party vote during an internal leadership contest. AFP reported that the former foreign secretary beat her rival, former finance minister Rishi Sunak, by 81,326 votes (57 percent) to 60,399 votes (43 percent), after a summer-long internal contest sparked by Boris Johnson’s resignation in July.
