JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Indonesia’s President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo sent his best wishes to the new Britain’s Prime Minister Liz Truss, replacing Boris Johnson after his resignation in July following a series of controversies.
In Jokowi’s message via his official Twitter account, the leader of the Southeast Asian country expressed hope that the cooperation between Indonesia and the United Kingdom will be further enhanced under Truss’ leadership.
“Let us work together to strengthen the strategic partnership between Indonesia and the UK as well as peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific,” Jokowi wrote on the @jokowi Twitter handle on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022.

The President also expressed his sincere thanks to Boris Johnson, whom he described as a good friend.
“Best wishes and thanks to my good friend @BorisJohnson,” he wrote.

The 47-year-old Truss has won the Conservative Party vote during an internal leadership contest. AFP reported that the former foreign secretary beat her rival, former finance minister Rishi Sunak, by 81,326 votes (57 percent) to 60,399 votes (43 percent), after a summer-long internal contest sparked by Boris Johnson’s resignation in July.
