Indonesia Allows Companies to Resume 100 Percent Office Attendance in Jakarta, Other Cities

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Non-essential sector employees in Greater Jakarta are now allowed to work from office at 100 percent capacity as the areas are now under the low risk level of the Covid-19 alert system.

The status, known as the Covid-19 level 1 restrictions on public activities (PPKM) will be implemented from May 24 to June 6 following the Minister of Home Affairs Instruction No. 26/2022 on Monday, May 23.

“The implementation of regular work activities at 100 percent capacity is allowed in the non-essential sector where employees have been vaccinated,” the Minister of Home Affairs Instruction stated.

“The employees are required to use their mobile Covid-19 tracking application PeduliLindungi when entering and leaving the workplace,” it added.

The essential sector employees could also resume to work at 100 percent capacity. This includes financial institutions, stock exchange, technology and information companies, hotel industry, and non-quarantine centers.

Meanwhile, export-oriented industries can operate at 100 percent capacity in each shift at the plant facilities and 75 percent capacity for employees in the back office.

Besides, fitness centers, meeting rooms, ballrooms are allowed to open at 100 percent capacity and required to use the Covid-19 tracking application PeduliLindungi.

Food and beverage must be served in boxes as buffet is still not allowed.

Critical sector in health, security and order, disaster management, energy, logistics, fertilizers and petrochemicals, cement and building materials, vital objects, national strategic projects, construction, utilities (electricity, water and waste management) can operate at 100 percent capacity.

The government has extended the public activity restrictions to 171 cities and regencies outside Java and Bali from 88.

“We see that the situation outside of Java and Bali is getting better. More cities and regencies have been declared as the Covid-19 level 1 restrictions,” said director general of regional administration development at the Ministry of Home Affairs Syafrizal ZA on Tuesday, May 24.

He added that the number of regions under the moderate risk level decreased to 196 from 276. He said that 20 cities and regencies are now under the high risk level or level 3 restrictions.

“We hope that this condition will continue, even though the government has eased some restrictions such as the use of masks, especially in open spaces,” said Syafrizal.
