March 18, 2022, 06.47 PM – The free practice 2 (FP2) session of the 2022 Indonesian Grand Prix was completed on Friday, March 18. MotoGP world champion Fabio Quartararo closed the FP2 fastest of all with a time of one minute 31.608 seconds despite a technical issue.

The bike troubles forced him to return to the Yamaha garage after only seven minutes of entering into the session. He suddenly experienced an engine failure while passing one of the corners at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit. The marshals helped Quartararo to push the Yamaha YZR-M1 toward the pit lane.

After a few minutes, Quartararo was able to return to the circuit surpassing Yamaha teammate Franco Morbidelli, who finished the FP2 session at second.

Morbidelli, who is a protege of Valentino Rossi, finished with 0.030 seconds slower than Quartararo. Johann Zarco completed the top three on his Pramac Ducati.

Meanwhile, Honda’s Marc Marquez finished at 22nd after suffering a crash at Turn 11. He finished with one minute 32.847 seconds.
