JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – An Indonesian official expressed hope that the ongoing world-class event in Mandalika motorcycle circuit on Lombok island, West Nusa Tenggara could also boost local micro, small and medium (MSME) products.
“From now, we need to prepare and promote even stronger the local MSME products at the Mandalika motorcycle circuit,” said Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Minister Teten Masduki in a statement on Monday, November 22.
The establishment of the new Mandalika motorcycle circuit aims to enhance investment, trade, and tourism on the island of Lombok near Bali.
To do so, Teten said that there is a need to improve its product quality and brands by assisting the local MSMEs. Based on previous experiences, many MSME products that have entered the global market were introduced in the form of souvenirs in tourism areas.
“We have to display selected MSME products, which comprises prime and competitive products,” the minister said, adding that MSMEs should focus on their production capacity and product competitiveness.
“We must prepare our MSME products that are ready to compete in local and international markets.”
Sharing a similar sentiment, West Nusa Tenggara deputy governor Sitti Rohmi Djalilah said that the local government continued to support the development of local MSMEs by organizing an MSME exhibition at the Mandalika motorcycle circuit.

“We are proud of this much-anticipated event as more than 300 MSMEs are involved in the program,” said Sitti.
She went on to add that since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the local government has assisted the local MSMEs in the form of products, not funds.
“Alhamdulillah (praise be to God), the youth and housewives show their enthusiasm to produce quality MSME products and hopefully, it will become a turning point for the revival of the economy in West Nusa Tenggara after facing the uncertain pandemic,” she said.
