BENGKULU, KOMPAS.com - Indonesian YouTuber Deden Pramana, 29, who goes by Deden Noy, posted some covers of Dream Theatre songs on his YouTube account, showing his talents to play a drum set which is made out of recycled materials.
The recycled materials comprise a bucket, plastic water bottles, and tin cans. His cymbal is made out of circle-shaped metal that is usually used for cooking.
Besides Dream Theatre, he has also covered rock genre and heavy metal such as Avenged Sevenfold, System of Down, grunge music such as Nirvana, and the Indonesian band Padi.
Deden, a resident of Batu Lambang Village in South Bengkulu regency, said he created the music for his YouTube content. However, due to a budget constraint, he could not afford to buy a drum kit. Therefore he performs on his version of a drum kit.
"I did not have money to buy it [a drum kit], so I made a drum set from recycled waste," said Deden.
In his social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram, Portnoy not only lauds Deden, but he is also trying to raise a fund to buy Deden a new drum kit.

Deden was touched by his idol's acts.
“If he gave me a drum set, I would open a music course to teach young people to play drums in South Bengkulu," said Deden.
Deden said that Portnoy has always been his idol since his school days, but he has never performed Dream Theater's song on stage because he could not find the right bandmate.
"Since my school days, I have been a fan of his style of drumming. I am also happy that he followed my Instagram account,” Deden excitingly told Kompas.com on Wednesday, March 17.
“At every school music festival, I could not play Dream Theater songs because it was difficult to find bandmates who could play their songs," he added.
