Indonesia Gets Fifth Covid-19 Vaccine from China’s Sinovac
Indonesia received its fifth shipment of Covid-19 vaccine comprising 10 million doses of bulk vaccine from China’s Sinovac on Tuesday, March 2.
“Alhamdulillah [Praise be to God] 10 million doses of bulk vaccine have arrived today,” said Health Minister Dante Harbuwono in Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
Dante said the bulk vaccine will be processed by state-owned pharmaceutical company PT Bio Farma. The company will produce eight million doses of ready-to-use vaccine out of the 10 million doses of bulk vaccine.
“Overall, we have received approximately 38 million doses of vaccine, which are used for the mass inoculation program for all citizens,” he said.
He hoped that the shipment of 10 million doses of bulk vaccine could accelerate the Covid-19 vaccination program in Indonesia.
The government will continue to receive vaccines from Sinovac until the number reaches 185 million doses.
Apart from Sinovac, said Dante, Indonesia will also be receiving other foreign vaccines from Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and Novavax.
