Arya explained that the mutual assistance vaccine scheme was purely voluntary. He said the program was even initiated by the Indonesian business community in a bid to help the government to step up vaccinations against the Covid-19. The initiative could also lessen the burden to the state budget and vaccinate the population in less than a year.   

Indonesia has secured 340 million doses of vaccine. The government has set a target of vaccinating 170 million citizens by December this year.
