To date, the BPPTKG still put Mount Merapi’s alert status at Level III or caution, the second-highest emergency alert level.
The level of danger is set at five kilometers from the peak of the mountain. Aside from evacuating locals on the mountain’s slopes, the authorities also urged a halt to mining near river sources on the mountain, as well as hikes and other activities.
