JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The wife of Vice-President Ma’ruf Amin, Wury Ma’ruf Amin, said that women in Indonesia shall not fall behind the country’s men.
“I want everyone in society to understand that now is not the time for women to play second fiddle to men.”
Wury added that a change must be forged for a better future, particularly for Indonesian women.
Despite the gender inequality in Indonesia, women in the country must also fight to make Indonesia move forward.

“This can only be done if the whole country and its society come together and provide women in Indonesia with the same access, level of participation, control, and development as we do with men.”
In tackling the topic of gender inequality in Indonesia, Wury said that without women going after their aspirations the country that the society dreams about will not be realized.
Wury is adamant that if gender equality in Indonesia is achieved, then the potential to bring Indonesia forward will be even greater.
