KOMPAS.com – Amid Indonesia’s struggle to contain the spread of Covid-19 in the country, a positive response to fight the coronavirus collectively came from the international arena.

The United Nations General Assembly on Monday adopted the annual Resolution on Global Health and Foreign Policy, which was initiated by Indonesia.

Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said that the resolution underscored the importance of healthcare for all intending to strengthen the resilience of the global health system.

Meanwhile, as the first shipment of 1.2 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine from China’s Sinovac Biotech Ltd. arrived in Indonesia recently, the government continues to prepare healthcare workers for the mass inoculation program.

The United Nations General Assembly adopted the annual Resolution “Global Health and Foreign Policy: Strengthening Health System Resilience through Affordable Healthcare for All” initiated by Indonesia and supported by 181 countries on Monday.

“This resolution gives clear evidence of Indonesia’s efforts in fighting for global solidarity related to health cooperation, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in a statement on Tuesday, December 15.

Retno said the resolution underscored the importance of healthcare for all intending to strengthen the resilience of the global health system.

The resolution was facilitated by Indonesia along with South Africa, Brazil, Norway, France, Senegal, and Thailand.
