KOMPAS.com – One of the top 35 contestants of the current Indonesian Idol Special Season singing competition, Melisha Sidabutar, passed away on Tuesday, December 8. She was 19.
News of her passing came from the official Instagram account of Indonesian Idol, which said “the family of Indonesian Idol is in deep grief.” The Instagram post also published the black and white version of Melisha’s photo during one of her shows.
The caption wrote, “A beautiful soul is never forgotten, the big family of Indonesian Idol express our deepest condolences on the passing of Melisha Sidabutar, one of the top 35 contestants #IdolSpecialSeason. Rest in peace @melishapricilla.”

Ellysia Belinda, who is Melisha’s best friend and lives in the same neighborhood, said that Melisha passed away due to cardiomegaly or an enlarged heart.
“Yes, it’s true [she passed away after experiencing cardiomegaly],” Ellysia told Kompas.com on Wednesday, December 9.
Condolences are pouring in from renowned personalities in the country.
Ari Lasso, one of the Indonesian Idol judges, posted a heartfelt message on Melisha’s demise.
“Till we meet again @melishapriscilla @indonesianidolid, may your soul rest in peace. Deepest condolences to all the family. May God strengthens you all,” wrote Ari Lasso.
Another condolence message came from the host of Indonesian Idol, Boy William.
“Dear Melisha, you were so great. You did amazing. We were so lucky to meet you in Indonesian Idol, rest in peace sister, gone too soon. God be with you,” Boy William wrote.
Many netizens have also expressed sadness about Melisha’s demise.
