2. Indonesia to Keep Electricity Prices Unchanged Next Year
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) said on Friday that the electricity prices for 13 non-subsidized customers will be unchanged in the January-March 2021 period.
“Even though there have been changes in macroeconomic parameters in the last three months, the government has decided that there will be no changes in the electricity prices,” Agung Pribadi, a spokesperson for the ESDM Ministry, said in a statement on December 4.
Agung went on to add that the power tariffs for 25 other subsidized customers have also not changed. He assured that these 25 customer groups will still be given power subsidies. They include micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), small businesses, small industries, and social activities.
“The government provides social protection due to the Covid-19 pandemic by giving a discount on electricity rate for subsidized 450 volt-ampere (VA) and 900 VA households, as well as 450 VA small business customers and 450 VA small industries,” he said.
